The purpose of the program is to provide an educational foundation for Safety Professionals; giving them the information and tools needed to be effective leaders of the safety function for their organization. By completing the requirements of the program, participants earn the CLCP credential, verifying they have achieved the benchmark of competency and commitment to safety in our industry.

Learning Objectives
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the regulations, rules, and standards for safety in power generation, transmission and distribution
  • Design and implement improved safety and loss control policies, procedures and work practices across the organization
  • Use effective planning and communication skills to engage organizational leadership and staff to create a culture and legacy of safety performance excellence

Who Should Participate

Electric utility safety professionals, job training and safety consultants, operations personnel with safety responsibilities, or anyone with responsibility for leading safety performance in their organization.

Program Design

The CLCP Program is a high involvement blended learning experience that starts with a live-online Program Orientation at the beginning of Seminar 1. Each of the 4 seminars in the program consists of online and in-person instruction, small group work, presentations, individual assignments, and concludes with a test. In general, it takes approximately 2.5 years to complete all four seminars and a final Individual Project to earn the CLCP designation. Online coursework consists of both live-online modules and self-directed, on-demand content. The in-person classroom instruction for each seminar begins on Monday and ends by Noon on Friday, with the exception of Seminar 4 that concludes with a Graduation Dinner on Thursday evening.
