Creating a Safety Culture through Education and Training

  • The Certified Loss Control Professional credential serves as a benchmark of competency and commitment to safety in the industry and teaches participants how to create a culture of safety by integrating safe work practices, procedures and policies.

  • Speak Up, Listen Up! is an employee engagement tool that provides cooperative leaders with effective communications strategies for delivering and receiving safety-related feedback by using workplace scenarios developed specifically for electric co-ops.

  • The Safety Leadership Summit brings co-op leaders together to learn and share leading practices to affect transformative safety improvement at their co-op and across the network.

On-the-Job Implementation

  • In collaboration with statewide associations and safety professionals across the country, the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) provides participating co-ops with peer-to-peer review of their safety performance, helps leaders better understand opportunities for improvement and involves employees in the process.

  • The Commitment to Zero Contacts initiative provides co-ops with tools to help eliminate serious injuries and fatalities due to electrical contacts. Several resources are available in NRECA's Commitment to Zero Contacts toolkit, including the S.A.F.E. job-planning app, videos, implementation guides, logos and commitment forms.
