Overview

As more business owners look to locate data centers in co-op-served rural territories, cooperatives are working together across their networks to fully understand the implications of serving these intensive loads. From hyperscale campuses to colocation hubs, these facilities require far more than just reliable power—they demand strategic alignment, deep planning, and long-term operational partnership.

This discussion series is designed to provide key accounts professionals with knowledge and insights helpful to supporting data centers across their full life cycle—from the initial inquiry to long-term operation.

Through three targeted panels, you will hear from distribution and G&T cooperatives that are navigating this space today. Whether managing their first colocation site or supporting major hyperscale clients, panelists will share practical insights, lessons learned, challenges that will help you understand the data center development process and make informed decisions tailored to your co-op’s needs.

Panel Topics
  1. Intake and evaluation processes, including RFI workflows, zoning and permitting issues, and community alignment.
  2. Infrastructure development, milestone planning, procurement, and managing execution risks.
  3. Lessons learned in contracts, rates, and billing; planning for long-term power supply; and meeting carbon-free energy expectations.
