NRECA is working to secure important wins for electric cooperatives in the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package. To support our members, NRECA is establishing co-op consortia to maximize potential access to certain funding opportunities and build momentum behind co-op efforts.
Join us for a series of webinars to learn more about NRECA's approach to consortia, details on specific infrastructure funding opportunities and to stay up-to-date on the latest programs and resources for co-ops and the communities they serve.

EV Technical Deep Dive: DOE Tools
This webinar will highlight Department of Energy (DOE) tools for the planning and installation of Electric Vehicle Support Equipment (EVSE). NRECA EV Consortium leads will moderate a conversation highlighting DOE tools for electrified transportation and corresponding EVSE. DOE Speakers will highlight how to work with DOE tools and any upcoming opportunities that might provide funding for future EVSE projects with NRECA members.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore cutting-edge EV and EVSE tools that enable planning, deployment, or, in some cases, ready-for-demonstration EVSE technology that can increase the adoption of EVs.
- Review technical limitations, hurdles, and advantages associated with the latest EV and EVSE technologies.
- Confirm points of contact within NRECA for further discussing and potentially demonstrating new EVSE in their territories.
Instructors:
Jennah Denney, Electric Vehicle Strategy & Solutions Manager, NRECA,
Christopher Irwin, Program Manager, DOE,
Timothy Pennington, Senior Research Engineer, INL,
Andrew Satchwell, Research Scientist and Deputy Leader, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Conducting Microgrid Feasibility Studies with Key Accounts
NRECA is working on a pilot project with three cooperatives to evaluate the feasibility of developing multipurpose microgrids with selected key accounts. This pilot project aims to bring together partners to develop clean energy microgrid projects that deliver benefits to the utilities, their members and the community they serve. We believe that identifying win-win-win scenario projects that are replicable and scalable will help boost the development of microgrid projects in rural America. Join us for this webinar to review the results of the pilot program and to review upcoming federal funding opportunities for microgrids.
Learning Objectives:
- Microgrids overview
- Learn how to conduct microgrid feasibility studies
- Review of federal funding opportunities for microgrids
Instructors:
Tolu Omotoso, Energy Solutions Director, NRECA, Benjamin Dawson, PE, Vice President of Growth, Smart Grid and Operational Technology, SECO Energy

Advances in Distribution Automation
Distribution Automation (DA) is the process of leveraging technological advances to distribution equipment to allow automation to improve how cooperatives are able to manage their distribution system. It focuses on field equipment advances which enable DA and complement Advance Distribution Management System (ADMS) software. In this webinar, we will discuss advances in traditional utility field equipment, communications with that equipment, microgrids to manage portions of the grid, and the potential for solar/battery inverters for control by utilities.
Learning Objectives:
- Emerging technologies in the field of Distribution Automation
- How cooperatives are reducing outages with Distribution Automation
Instructor: David Pinney
