The Innovative Energy Alliance Cooperative (IEAC) consists of four distribution cooperatives serving more than 30,000 member-consumers in North Dakota. Their expansive 18,400 square miles of adjoining territory and low consumer density of only at most 2.3 meters per mile presents challenges in finding economic ways to effectively serve their members and remain competitive. This advisory is part of a series of case studies looking at ways cooperatives are working together to achieve benefits through strategic sourcing.
