In 2022, Congress created a one-time $9.7 billion New ERA program exclusively for electric cooperatives. The program is administered through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Last Fall, USDA launched the first step of the funding application process by inviting co-ops to submit letters of interest on proposed projects.
