IEEE 1547 - What to Know About the New Standard
Much has changed since the original IEEE 1547 DER interconnection standard was published in 2003. The original standard centered largely around ensuring that DERs did not interfere with the normal operation of the distribution system’s regulation and protection systems. Now with the release of IEEE 1547-2018, the standard now acknowledges a very different DER deployment environment. Whereas older versions of the standard prohibited voltage regulation at the point of interconnection, the current standard shows a pronounced shift toward ensuring Bulk Power System (BPS) dynamic and transient stability. This session will cover some of the more significant changes for those seeking to apply the standard.
