Wood Pole Production and Quality Assurance

Every field crew and operations manager has stories of the super-sized impact of wood poles on the long term performance of their overhead line systems. Being an educated buyer is central to saving on overhead line maintenance – and to meeting your reliability goals. NRECA’s Wood Quality Control (WQC) team has decades of combined experience with more than 16 million WQC poles installed in utility lines throughout the United States and abroad. The WQC team and its primary contractor (Timber Products Inspection) have worked with co-ops and producers to provide co-ops with a quality assurance program that’s unique in the industry. Join Will Cox, Director of NRECA’s WQC Program, and the WQC team for practical advice on procuring and inspecting wood poles.
