​​ One of the biggest issues facing the electric grid today is reliability. Several factors, such as extreme natural events (hurricane, snowstorms, tornadoes, wildfires), combined with the proposed EPA power rule are constantly threatening reliable power supply. Prioritization of green energy to meet government mandates over hardening grid systems could increase the likelihood of power outages.

Co-ops serve a broad range of commercial and industrial (C&I) accounts, from schools, churches and hospitals to large manufacturers, farms, data centers and national retail chains—each with its unique needs. To keep power supply on for C&I members, we need to build stronger and resilient infrastructure. Rebuilding after each extreme event is not only challenging but also expensive—requiring time, supplies and a lot of personnel.

For the electric grid to be reliable, it must be sustainable. Sustainable electric utilities aim to balance the needs of providing reliable power to consumers with minimizing negative effects on the environment and promoting a greener energy future.
