“How do we engage more of our members and get new faces in the crowd at our member engagement events?” This was the question that inspired the creation of “Brews, Brats & Kilowatts,” a Spotlight on Excellence award-winning member event. The event was created by Sarah Schaefer, CCC, newly designated CCC Nikki Ricciardi and the rest of the communications team at Mountain View Electric Association, Falcon, Colo.

The 3-hour “mix and mingle” event took place at a brewery in a densely populated portion of the co-op’s service territory. It featured two, casual 20-minute talks from their CEO. When the co-op opened registration to attend the event to the first 150 members, those slots quickly filled and overflowed to a large waiting list.

Talk about member engagement – more than two-thirds of attendees had never attended the co-op’s annual meeting!
