This report serves as a high-level overview for electric cooperatives and other rural utilities of how distributed wind projects progress from concept to reality, the types of tools, methods, and resources developers utilize to screen and manage projects as they progress, how stakeholders are engaged, what approvals may be required for a project to progress, and how and when those approvals are secured. This report also details the costs of developing, installing, and operating a distributed wind asset and the cash flows that result when the asset is put into service.
