CONSUMER-MEMBER ENGAGEMENT
NRECA provides programs, resources and strategic guidance to help co-ops enhance communication and engagement with their consumer-members. From strategies on how to communicate with young adults to programs to inspire political action among consumer-members, NRECA offers resources to help co-ops build relationships and share the co-op difference.

Young Adult Member Engagement Initiative: The Young Adult Member Engagement initiative, a joint project with Touchstone Energy, empowers co-ops with strategies and resources to connect with the next generation and tools to adapt to the values, interests and service expectations of this essential member group.
Lexicon Project: NRECA recently conducted consumer research to develop a shared lexicon for electric co-ops to use when communicating with their members on priority issues. This messaging can help co-ops better connect with their consumer-members by using language that strongly resonates.
Reputation Management Guide: NRECA’s Reputation Management and Governance Communications Resource Guide is designed to support electric co-ops as they work to implement proactive communications and reputation management strategies.

Safety Training Programs and Resources: Through the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) and a variety of safety-focused training programs, NRECA supports building and sustaining a culture of safety and provides cooperatives with the tools to make safety foremost in everyone's job.
NRECA Market Research Services: This co-op-focused team provides custom market research capabilities and support to help NRECA member cooperatives become more successful and member-responsive.

Associate Membership: This program helps bridge the gap between co-ops and the vendors or manufacturers who service them. A key member value is the Buyer's Guide, which provides co-ops with access to more than 700 trusted, co-op-experienced companies providing business, equipment and software solutions.
National Discounts Program: NRECA has negotiated many vendor and business discounts for its member cooperatives and, in some cases, their employees in areas such fleet vehicles, business products and services, computer hardware and software, and travel.
RE Advisors: Founded by NRECA in 1990, RE Advisers manages equity and fixed-income strategies for mutual funds, institutional portfolios and separate accounts.
Homestead Funds: Homestead endeavors to provide employees of NRECA-member cooperatives and others across the nation with a level of professional money management that can help them establish a greater measure of confidence in their financial future.

For more than 50 years, NRECA International has been a global ambassador for the cooperative business model, working in developing countries to help governments and their citizens bring electricity to remote communities, leading to improvements in education, healthcare, safety and economic opportunity.

NRECA International in Bangladesh: In 1980 NRECA International helped establish the first electric co-ops in Bangladesh. That year, only13,000 people living in the rural areas had access to electricity. Today there are 80 electric co-ops serving more than 100 million people across the country. Since NRECA International’s involvement, the average annual income for Bangladeshi homes with electricity increased by 250%.
NRECA International in Uganda: NRECA International is working with the U.S. Agency for International Development, the government of Uganda, and leaders from America’s electric cooperatives to help strengthen the electric co-ops in Uganda.
