​Numerous methods for addressing risk in the power industry have been developed. The following articles review and assess the current status of the risk-based management approach for the optimization of maintenance in thermal power plants (both conventional and combined cycle). This series is based on the CEATI Thermal Generation Interest Group's Maintenance Optimization Using Risk-Based Tools report. The aim is to help plant personnel understand the potential application areas, the limitations, and the benefits offered by these methodologies.

• Article 2: Guide to Developing a Best Practice Risk Management Procedure and Using a Risk-Based Software Program for Plant Inspections 
  Guidance on the elements of a best practices risk management procedure, based on a review of methodologies in the first article; and discussion of the steps entailed in a risk-based maintenance inspection procedure, RiskFit.
