NEETRAC PROJECT #: 14-142
Date Closed: January 2016
This project investigated the use of overhead Faulted Circuit Indicators (FCIs) by electric utility members of NEETRAC. A survey was conducted to gather information on the FCIs used and any unresolved issues with their use. Response received represented eleven member electric utilities. The utilities reporting indicated that approximately 139,000 FCIs consisting of eight different models were in use. Several different issues were reported with some of these units.
The manufactures of the units were contacted and queried about their perspective of the issues identified. This report documents reported FCI usage, any issues reported, and the manufactures responses to the reported issues.
