Significant progress has been made in recent years towards taking advantage of modern storage technologies by integrating them with existing fossil-based generation systems to increase their performance and economic value. Electric cooperatives operate a large number of fossil
power plants in the U.S. and can greatly benefit from advanced energy storage
technologies, but face various technical and financial barriers. OASIS is a sustained and focused approach aimed at overcoming these barriers, increasing the adoption of storage technologies and contributing to the nation’s power security and economic growth.
NRECA will provide its members with access to educational resources, to help empower them to integrate new energy storage technologies with their generation systems. By conducting coordination and outreach with its smaller electric generation utility members, NRECA will facilitate awareness, technology transfer and sharing of best practices and lessons learned. We will also provide information on partnering with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on future projects and site-specific energy storage integration studies.
Additional resources will be added to this website over time. Revisit this page often to
stay up-to-date on the latest learning materials, and to find out about new
events and opportunities.
You are also invited to sign up for our newsletter, Business and Technology Update, a twice-monthly email publication that provides the latest on resources, events, and other information from NRECA's Business and Technology Strategies group.
