This group seeks to work with federal agencies, foundations and vendors to provide grassroots electric transportation solutions for rural America. CAVE is NRECA’s electric vehicle consortium created to assist our members in taking advantage of funding opportunities available through the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law.

Need: Federal agencies and other funders need to see a coordinated effort by America's electric cooperatives to address transportation electrification. It is critical that funders understand that while this group of co-ops are working together to advance transportation electrification, the pathway to do so will be driven by local needs and will vary based on the uniqueness of each electric cooperative.
CAVE seeks to implement programs and solutions that:
Focus on charging infrastructure in rural and low-income communities.
Create education-based programs to inform consumers, dealers and policy makers on the value of electric transportation.
Explore options for fleets, transit bus, school bus and medium/heavy duty truck adoption and charging solutions.
Demonstrate unique programs that utilize technologies to improve grid reliability.
