Birthplace: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Hobby: Shooting, camping, ATVs, and technology.
You stay busy! I have been shooting for about 20 years, camping for almost 10, and riding ATVs for five years. Technology has been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember.
What do you enjoy most about being outdoors? I like exploring new places, and it’s nice to go without a cell phone for a few days. Spending time with my family outdoors is always a good time too.
How did you hear about the job at IREA? From a colleague at the City of Aurora.
Is that where you were before you joined the co-op? Yes, I was their network manager. I implemented some massive changes and built a new core and distribution network across more than 100 public buildings.
What do you like most about working at the co-op? It is a small company with big impact. This job is different from anything I have done before.
Education: I have multiple certifications from Cisco, Red Hat, Vmware and Microsoft. I have spent the last 20 years in networking design and implementing small and large networks with a focus on data centers and core architecture. I also have a good understanding of products like Juniper, Palo Alto, Check Point, HP, and others.
One random fact about you: Racoons are cool. I have never had one as a pet or been face to face with one, but they are so funny and weird. I have a strange compassion for them.
