Birthplace: I was born in Boston, but we moved to Miami when I was 3 years old.

Hobby: Weightlifting

When did you start weightlifting? Almost three years ago. I was overweight my entire life and lost 30 pounds and wanted to get more toned.

What do you like about it? It is so empowering. Being one of the few women lifting at the gym pushes me. When I see out of the corner of my eye that I am lifting as much as some of the men, that feels pretty good. Your only limit is yourself. There is always room to improve and get stronger.

Do you have advice for someone who wants to start weightlifting? I recommend working with a trainer or a friend to help you get over any fear of the gym and keep you accountable.

How did you hear about the job at Talquin Electric? My parents are Talquin members, and I found the job on LinkedIn.

What were you doing before you joined the co-op? I started at Talquin three weeks after finishing graduate school and had my interview the day after I finished my final project.

What do you like most about working at the co-op? Talquin is one big family. My co-workers support me, which has made me more confident in my abilities.

Education: Master of Science in public relations, Boston University, and Bachelor of Science in international affairs and sociology, Florida State University

Something most people may not know about you: I would love to open my own women’s gym one day. I want to encourage and empower other women in a judgement-free environment while promoting the belief that fitness is about more than looking a certain way.
