Hobbies: I sew! I work as a pattern tester and fit model for a few inde- pendent fashion designers. I also do marketing promotions for a few fabric companies.

Have you always been interested in fashion? My interest in fashion started as a child – inspired by Betty and Veronica comics. Betty could create any high fashion look that Veronica could buy. Betty was my hero!

What is a pattern tester, and how did you get started? As a pattern tester, I am supplied with new designs that I make to my measurements. I provide feedback about fit and construction. Once the pattern is finalized, I provide photos of my garments for marketing purposes. I have a lifestyle blog, and my adventures in sewing are always a major draw. I connected with my favorite companies, and it opened up a world to me that I didn’t know existed.

What do you like about being a pattern tester? I love the comradery that comes with the testing groups. We represent real women (and their figures) around the globe.

Who is your favorite designer? Betsey Johnson. Colorful, whimsical, and fun!

How would you describe your style? Quirky Chic. Clothing should always be fun and make you feel special.

How did you hear about the job at Central Georgia? I am very involved in my local community and had a few professional contacts at Central Georgia EMC. When the position became available, I was immediately interested. It seemed like a natural fit for my marketing background.

Why did you want to work there? Most of my professional experience has been in non-profit marketing. I love the cooperative model, with the common thread being communities helping one another. What made CGEMC even more attractive was the people who work here. This is a true family of employees who really love the co-op they serve.

What do you like most about your job? There is a great shared energy here. It is a very progressive and exciting place to work. There is a strong willingness to consider new technologies, new ideas, and new methods. Creativity is welcome and free-flowing.

Education: I have a B.A. in Communication and a M.Ed. in Education Leadership, both from Mercer University.

One random fact or something most people may not know about you: I have had many interesting animal encounters that lead me to believe I’m a Disney princess in real life.

Do you have a colleague we should get to know better? There are only three requirements to share their story:

  • They have been at your co-op one year or less

  • They have never worked at an electric co-op before

  • They have an interesting hobby (i.e., fly fishing, bee keeping, small business owner, fitness/outdoor enthusiast, singing or playing in a band – the sky's the limit!)

If you or one of your colleagues meet these requirements, we'd love to hear from you. Please send nominations to megan.mcatee@nreca.coop.
