How did you hear about Boone Electric? My college advisor told me about the job opportunity.

What do you like most about working at Boone Electric? I really appreciate the camaraderie among colleagues and the opportunity to be a part of something bigger—a chance to give back to the community.

What’s the thing you’re most proud of since you’ve been at Boone Electric? I love being a part of the ways that we give back to the community. Through events like our Touchstone Energy Nights, we donate money to local schools and have fun trivia and contests. Then, we give cash prizes to 4-H kids and their clubs for their photography projects to fill the pages of our member calendar each year.

Hobby: My family raises and shows pigs every year at the Missouri State Fair.

How did you start showing pigs? I grew up on a farm, so animals have always been a part of my life and close to my heart. I’ve been raising them since I was in high school. Pigs have fun personalities, and they’re really fun to work with.

What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend? Going to a farm or estate auction with my wife.

Person you admire most? My dad. He’s such a hard worker. I can always go to him for wisdom and advice.

Education: Bachelor of Science, Science and Agricultural Journalism, University of Missouri

One fact most people may not know about you: I proposed to my wife with a mason jar full of notes and thoughts about her that I wrote each day for a year starting right before I asked her out.

Do you have a colleague we should get to know better? There are only three requirements to share their story:

  • They have been at your co-op one year or less

  • They have never worked at an electric co-op before

  • They have an interesting hobby (i.e., fly fishing, bee keeping, small business owner, fitness/outdoor enthusiast, singing or playing in a band – the sky's the limit!)

If you or one of your colleagues meet these requirements, we'd love to hear from you. Please send nominations to megan.mcatee@nreca.coop.
