Scot joined the RE Magazine team in June 2010 after 18 months in NRECA’s Association Marketing division. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1989 with a Liberal Arts degree focusing on journalism and has worked as a writer and editor for newspapers in Roanoke, Va., and Roswell, N.M. He later joined a Washington, D.C., transcripts newswire, spending 11 years at the company and rising to the level of news director. He left the newswire in late 2005 and worked for three years at National Geographic as a writer and editor for the prestigious publication’s online division.

Alexis Woodhouse

Alexis Woodhouse joined NRECA in 2020. She grew up in a farming community in rural Wisconsin and is passionate about sharing the cooperative story. Alexis graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with degrees in Life Sciences Communication, Environmental Studies, and Scandinavian Studies, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Community and Economic Development from Penn State.

A native of Lexington, Ky., Blake Whitney joined NRECA in 2021 after 17 years of writing and design at newspapers and trade publications in sports, politics, business and health research. He graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.

Cathy Cash is a veteran Washington, D.C., energy reporter. Prior to coming to NRECA’s publications, she covered Congress, the White House, EPA, DOE, FERC and other related federal agencies involved in the electric power business for McGraw-Hill and Platts newsletters. She was a 2014 Gold Winner of the Hermes Creative Awards for her story,
“Ky. Co-op Fights for Hero Lineman.”

Derrill Holly

Derrill Holly is a storyteller who launched his career in Cleveland in the late 1960s. He’s spent decades reporting for radio, television, print publications and international wire services. He has covered the space program, natural disasters, military deployments and terrorism. Since 2007, his stories on power supply, renewable energy, service reliability and environmental stewardship have been featured in NRECA’s print and digital publications.

Erin Kelly

Erin Kelly joined NRECA in early 2019 after more than 20 years covering Congress for Gannett News Service and USA TODAY. Her beats included environmental issues, cybersecurity and immigration. Before that, she covered City Hall and law enforcement for the Orange County Register in Southern California. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

Jen Wheeler

Jen joined NRECA’s creative team in January 2014. After graduating from the University of Mary Washington with a degree in Business Marketing, she worked for four years as an account manager in the direct marketing field. While working, she completed Boston University’s CDIA Graphic and Web Design program. Helping redesign RE Magazine’s print publication has been one of Jen’s favorite projects since joining the NRECA family.
