On September 18, NRECA filed comments in response to an FCC Notice of Inquiry soliciting comment on whether advanced telecommunications capabilities are being deployed to all Americans in a timely fashion. In its comments NRECA urged the FCC to evaluate the availability of fixed and mobile services separately since there are not functionally equivalent and to begin collecting data on broadband pricing and affordability. Further NRECA urged the agency to update faulty broadband data collection and mapping programs as quickly as possible and to update the outdated 25/3 definition of broadband to reflect today’s consumer demand and market conditions for higher speed connectivity.
