On November 28, ​NRECA filed comments responding to the Rural Utilities Service’s (RUS) request for information regarding implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA). The IRA creates a $9.7 billion financial assistance program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) specifically for electric cooperatives to purchase or build new clean energy systems. Our comments detail implementation considerations for USDA and RUS to ensure that the promise of the IRA for electric cooperatives is fulfilled.
