NRECA maintained that the Environmental Protection Agency should withdraw its proposed power plant rule in comments filed with the agency on Dec. 20, 2023. As long as the proposed rule continues to rely on the nascent and unproven at scale technologies of carbon capture and storage and clean hydrogen co-firing, the rule is unlawful and unworkable and will have devastating impacts on reliability.
