On March 5, 2021, NRECA, along with the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the Utilities Technology Council (UTC) met with the office of Acting Chairwoman Rosenworcel to discuss NCTA's petition to require utility pole owners to pay a portion of the cost to replace a pole to accommodate new attachers. We made the point that the FCC had addressed the issue adequately in its limited declaratory ruling and it was correct to refrain from developing prescriptive cost allocations concerning the universe of situations where the requesting attacher should not be required to pay for the full cost of a pole replacement and the proper allocation of costs in those situations.
