​​This fact sheet covers the importance of quickly implementing the 2018 Omnibus Vegetation Management Provisions that apply to electric cooperatives:

• The 2018 Omnibus spending bill included provisions designed to allow electric cooperatives to more easily manage vegetation and remove hazard trees along utility rights-of-way on federal lands.
• Federal agencies were initially told to implement the Omnibus provisions by proposing regulatory changes
  in March 2019 and finalizing the changes by March 2020.
  
• The partial federal government shutdown and changes in leadership have delayed agency implementation.
  
• Electric co-ops face uncertainty and increased wildfire risk until agencies implement changes and adequately train field staff.
