The Department of Energy’s Uniform Methods Project (UMP) published a report that examines methods for measuring and verifying (M&V) energy savings achieved under specific energy efficiency programs such as residential lighting, whole house retrofits and refrigerator recycling. Due to the efforts of NRECA, TSE, a member task force and our consultants, the report acknowledges that the rigorous M&V methods recommended in the report may not be feasible for smaller utilities for a number of reasons. The introduction to the report summarizes alternative, less expensive or detailed methods which co-ops and others may wish to use, and provides a link to NRECA’s 2012 M&V study supporting these alternatives, which is provided below.
