​​On July 3, EEI, APPA and NRECA jointly filed comments in the Department of Commerce's 232 investigation into grain oriented electrical steel (GOES) and products that incorporate GOES, namely transformers.​

In the comments, we generally support efforts to expand domestic manufacturing of GOES and of electrical transformers but urge Commerce to consider the importance of electric system reliability to national security as it conducts this investigation and ask that any potential proposed trade remedies be tailored to support reliability by maintaining supplier diversity.
