NRECA filed reply comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on July 17, 2017, in the matter of "Accelerating Wireless Broadband Deployment by Removing Barriers to Infrastructure Investment."
Electric cooperatives unequivocally support the FCC's efforts to promote broadband deployment in rural areas, and other unserved and underserved communities. NRECA argues that unregulated pole attachment rates are not an impediment to broadband deployment, but rather other factors drive investment decisions of the major services providers when considering broadband investments in rural areas and these considerations should inform and guide the FCC's deliberations and further efforts in advancing broadband deployment in rural areas.
