Traditionally, the NRECA Regional Meetings provide the ideal setting for engaging ACRE members at the ACRE Breakfast. Since we were unable to host the usual series of ACRE breakfast events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we held two virtual PAC events. As part of the NRECA Regional Week programming, ACRE hosted an Election Analysis on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 that featured a pre-election outlook from Amy Walter, national editor of The Cook Political Report.
Following the pre-election outlook, ACRE hosted a predictive contest challenging participants to forecast control of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, as well as competitive U.S. Senate races across the country. Remarkably, we received seven perfect predictions.
Jacque Sikes from San Isabel Electric Association in Colorado won the contest, predicting the tiebreaker question within one. Congratulations to Jacque!
We all congratulate the following individuals for submitting perfect entries: Aaron Bradshaw of Co-Mo Connect, David Hagenow of Greystone Power, Jim Reese of Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives, David Spradlin of Springer Electric Cooperative, Sean Vanslyke of SEMO Electric Cooperative, and Steve Walter of Tanner Electric Cooperative.
ACRE kicked off its first ever online PAC auction on October 14th, as well. The auction raised $11,792, outpacing our goal of $10,000. The auction website generated more than 31,000 webpage views, and the auction attracted in 220 bidders totaling 355 bids.
As our ability to hold in-person events continues to be limited, stay tuned for further engaging, virtual PAC events in 2021.
