More than 90 rural electric cooperatives serve more than 90 military facilities across the country. Each relationship unique and many cooperatives go beyond providing electricity service (commodity contracts) to a DoD facility, including holding utility privatization (UP) contracts where a cooperative owns, operates, and maintains the distribution grid within an installation. Under each scenario, engagement between the
cooperative and the military is critical to ensuring the needs of national defense and response.
