As more electric cooperatives look to strengthen their resiliency and protect reliability, NRECA is busy developing new microgrid software and simulation tools. These efforts include the Rural Energy Storage Deployment Program, which has paired co-ops with the Department of Energy to develop new battery storage projects, and MicrogridUP, a three-year research project funded by the Department of Defense involving co-op-served military bases.
