Selection of distribution transformers has
historically varied by utility according to their particular concerns and
needs. These purchases have also been
influenced by standards set by the DOE, in aim of preventing utilities from
making purchases purely based on economic evaluation and without regard to
losses. This advisory reviews the
current state of transformer standards, and NRECA’s work on behalf of America’s
Electric Cooperatives to represent our industry’s needs and concerns within
stakeholder forums and promote better approaches for addressing future
transformer efficiency standards.
