Electric cooperative CEOs and directors will gather this fall in five cities to share ideas and take part in the member resolutions process at NRECA's Regional Meetings, which begin right after Labor Day in Indianapolis.

“Regional Meetings offer a great opportunity to network with and learn from other co-ops in your area. It's also an important piece of the member resolutions process and a chance to offer feedback on the resolutions at hand," said Kristen Wheeler, NRECA's meetings program manager.

NRECA CEO Jim Matheson will discuss issues affecting the membership and NRECA President Chris Christensen will address co-op leaders to help participants prepare for the process of developing NRECA's resolutions for 2023.

Angela Strickland, NRECA's senior vice president of Business and Technology Strategies, will discuss how co-ops can refine their technology planning process.

NRECA will also present an update on the investment and funding opportunities provided by the $1.2 trillion infrastructure law for co-ops and the communities they serve. The update will provide information about NRECA's resources to support members, including co-op consortia created to maximize access to funding for specific programs.

Scott Peterson, NRECA's senior vice president of communications, will present new research regarding cybersecurity messaging and the best words to use in communicating with consumer-members, policymakers and other stakeholders. He will speak in Little Rock, Portland and Hollywood, Florida. Stephen Bell, NRECA's senior director of media and public relations, will make the presentation in Indianapolis and Minneapolis.

Joe Martin, NRECA's secretary-treasurer, will give the financial report.

Member Resolutions Process

Nominating committees will meet at each event and select individuals to stand for election to the member standing committees, which meet each January.

There also will be meetings of the Regional Resolutions Committees. The committees consider and make recommendations on the Compendium of Proposed Resolutions. This is an opportunity for voting members to learn more about the proposed resolutions and participate in the committee's deliberations. The resolutions address co-op views on a wide range of policy issues.

Audience members are encouraged to ask questions of committee members. Voting members of NRECA may offer new resolutions sponsored by their co-op board or statewide association for the committee to consider. Business meetings will take place on the final day of each Regional Meeting, and delegates will vote on the proposed resolutions and elect individuals to the member standing committees.
