Who doesn't want to see their co-op's satisfaction score increase? The third annual Co-op Connections Card Day can give it a nudge by helping your members do something they like: save money.

"We want to engage members and keep the card top of mind so they think about it when they're looking to save some money," said Scott Bialick, senior program manager, business development, at Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives.

The Oct. 5 event helps remind them of the power of the card and app, which in turn pays dividends.

"Members who know that you offer Co-op Connections, that you have a member benefit program, give the co-op a higher satisfaction score, period" said Bialick, pointing to Touchstone Energy's research.

"It buys you goodwill with your members, including younger ones who might not attend annual meetings and other events," said Bialick.

But member satisfaction is only one reason your co-op should participate.

"It promotes local businesses, which appear free of charge on both the Connections.coop website and app," said Bialick. And by taking part in Co-op Connections Day with special promotions, they can increase foot traffic.

That's what happened at two Dunkin' Donuts served by Flint Energies in Georgia during the 2016 event. In the morning, anyone showing their Co-op Connections Card at one location received a free dozen doughnuts. That afternoon, the other location offered a small beverage or ice cream for showing the card.

To promote Co-op Connections Day, Touchstone Energy is once again running a contest through Oct. 7, encouraging co-op members and employees to take photos in front of participating businesses and post them on social media using the hashtag #ImConnected. Ten winners will receive $100 gift cards.
