CFC and NRTC co-authored and published the Rural Electric Cooperative Smart Grid Benchmarking Report (PDF) last September. The report covers smart grid technologies and quantifies how each have benefitted cooperatives and their communities.

The report is based on survey responses from 60 cooperatives that have deployed advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), outage management systems (OMS), utility-scale solar demand-response programs and others.

The smart grid webinar series spotlights four electric cooperatives’ smart grid applications and the value streams that were enabled by them. Each webinar will focus on the smart grid technologies the cooperatives utilized and the value delivered to their members.

Load Management Technology
Wednesday, February 2, 1-2 p.m. ET

Join us as Wake EMC Vice President of Engineering & Operations Don Bowman describes how the North Carolina system reduced wholesale energy and demand costs by deploying technologies such as Volt/VAR optimization. Bowman will be joined by subject matter experts Nate Holland of NRTC and David Pinney of NRECA.

Consumer Demand Response Programs

Wednesday, February 16, 1-2 p.m. ET

Tune in as Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association Sales Manager Robbin Nisbet describes how her system has deployed demand-response technologies such as thermostats, hot water heaters and electric vehicles—and the results they achieved. Nisbet will be joined by subject matter experts Nate Holland of NRTC and Brian Sloboda of NRECA.

Distributed Energy Resources

Wednesday, March 2, 1-2 p.m. ET

Don’t miss this session as New Hampshire Electric Cooperative Vice President of Power Resources & Access Brian Callnan describes how his system deployed distributed energy resources (DER) on both sides of the meter to achieve value streams for individual members and the cooperative. Callnan will be joined by subject matter experts Jan Ahlen of CFC, Milt Geiger of NRTC and Fathalla Eldali of NRECA.

Distribution System Reliability
