On January 19, a bipartisan, bi-cameral letter signed by 160 members of Congress was sent to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai urging the Commission to thoroughly vet winning bidders in the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) Phase I auction to ensure that they can deliver the broadband service they have promised to unserved consumers. NRECA strongly supports lawmakers' call for a thorough vetting of long-form applications, because we are concerned that some RDOF winners do not have the capability to provide the service promised, short-changing rural Americans who desperately need fast and reliable broadband service.
