The Rural Area Distributed Wind Integration Network Development (RADWIND) project began in August 2020 and will continue through October of 2022. The overall goal of this DOE-funded project is to understand, address, and reduce the technical risks and market barriers to distributed wind adoption by rural utilities. The first year of the project focused on assessing the current state of distributed wind deployment by electric cooperatives and other rural utilities, including reports and case studies, and identification of gaps and needs. The second year will focus on technical solutions and partnership models to support NRECA members who have or are considering deploying wind as a distributed generation resource.
