Hobby: Running
What keeps you motivated as a runner?
I enjoy reaching for the impossible and seeing what I can achieve. Running is both a mental and physical battle, and even on hard days, it’s rewarding. I never regret doing it. “Do it anyway” is my motto. I may dread it, but I go anyway—and hitting goals makes me feel strong. Also, I really like to eat, so running helps balance out those snack attacks!
Have you learned any life lessons from running that carry over into your professional life?
Absolutely. I’ve learned I sometimes doubt myself and get in my own way. Running forces me to push past negative self-talk. If I can run 6 miles in 92-degree heat, I can handle a tough conversation or solve a hard problem. It’s a mindset shift that helps me exceed my limits.
How has being part of the WIP Mentoring Program shaped your co-op journey so far?
It’s helped me connect with other women in the industry and understand parts of the business I didn’t even know to ask about. Without it, I’d still be buried under all the information out there.
Why do you think talent development is especially important in the co-op world?
We serve members first, so we need the skills, engagement and leadership to meet their needs. Our members trust us to improve continuously, which means we must prioritize developing ourselves—and our co-ops by extension.
Any words of advice for new co-op employees?
Ask questions, it’s okay not to know everything. Co-ops are full of kind people who want to help. Jump in with both feet: Join clubs, attend meetings, invite someone to lunch. Develop yourself and connect with others. Co-ops, like life, are what you make them. If you want to thrive, decide to—and invite others along for the ride.
