Hobby:

Cooking and baking

How did you get interested in cooking?

Growing up, I would help my mom bake; she’s the best cook I know. Once I started my own family, I wanted to re-create her recipes, so that’s when I really started to experiment in the kitchen.

How often do you cook?

I cook quite a bit during the week and bake at least once a week. I love to cook Mexican foods and desserts. For special occasions, I like to bake chocoflan cake. It is a two-layer bundt cake with a dulce de leche flan on top and a chocolate cake on the bottom topped with caramel. My favorite thing to cook is red enchiladas.

How did you hear about the job at Wheatland?

Through a former co-worker.

What were you doing before you joined the co-op?

I worked in higher education in the admissions department at Garden City Community College.

What do you like most about working at the co-op?

Everyone here has been so friendly and helpful. Working in member services has given me the opportunity to get out into the different communities we serve, which is something I enjoy.

What else do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I have twin daughters, so we spend a lot of time with family. I love watching Kansas State football, shopping and visiting local coffee shops.

Education:

Bachelor’s in journalism, Kansas State University.

Random fact about you:

I played the flute for nine years and participated in marching band in high school. During my junior year, the entire band took a trip to Chicago and performed at the Field Museum of Natural History.
