What kinds of films do you create?

Most of my films would be in the “thriller" genre, but I do a little bit of everything from comedy to action to even music videos. I just like experimenting.

How did you become interested in this?

In college, my favorite thing to do was to create short films and other video content with my friends. I started off with some class projects and eventually I just became obsessed with that form of storytelling.

How has your digital storytelling evolved since you began?

One of my first projects was a music video with my roommate, and while I'm still proud of it for the time, if you watch some of the more recent projects you can tell that I've put in practice. I've gotten more comfortable trusting my opinion and more excited to take risks.

Have you learned any lessons when creating short films that have helped you with your work at CHELCO?

Filmmaking has helped my work at CHELCO because any media work is based around a story. If a video project is just a collection of clips, then it's easy to forget, but even a simple story will stick around in a viewer's mind long aft er the images fade.

What do you like most about working for an electric co-op?

I am getting to do what I love for a job. The environment has been incredibly welcoming, and learning more about electric co-ops has been a fun challenge. I am incredibly grateful to be able to work creatively in my workplace.

Any words of advice for new co-op employees?

Get to know the people you work with. Co-ops are a good place for a career, they provide a lot of opportunities for growth, but what takes the job from good to great is the people. Building a camaraderie with co-workers will keep you from growing stagnant and make every day more fun.
