What does a co-op journeyman electrician do?

As a journeyman at Trico, I am tasked with helping out members with any electrical needs they might have beyond the meter. Instead of members trying to find a contractor, they can now call Trico and I will assist the member directly.

What motivated you to pursue a career as a journeyman electrician?

I knew within the first couple of days of my apprenticeship that I wanted to be a journeyman. I worked under some very good journeymen that took the time to show me the ins and outs of electrical work.

What skills or experiences help you succeed in this field?

Being good with my hands as well as good at math. There is lots of math involved in conduit bending as well as load calculations.

How do you stay on top of EV trends?

I subscribe to multiple webpages about EVs as well as attend conferences and workshops regarding both chargers and vehicles.

How do you communicate with members about the EV services you provide?

We have a very informative section dedicated to EVs on our website that our members can easily find. Also, in person when I'm doing an assessment, I am able to answer any questions they might have.

As a pioneer in this role, how have integrated your work with other departments?

I have worked with a few of the departments to develop an assessment checklist as well as purchasing to ensure we have the right materials on hand. Also have worked with IT to develop assemblies for staking and estimating.

What do you like most about working for an electric co-op?

We're all dedicated to making a difference in the community we serve. Helping others has always been something I value, and here at Trico, we make sure our members are well taken care of with their electrical needs.
