Hobby: Exploring the outdoors

What kind of outdoor activities do you enjoy?

Some of my hobbies include kayaking and hammocking, going on hikes and exploring new towns and cities.

How did you become an outdoors enthusiast?

A lot of these hobbies started while I was in college and living in Minnesota, which is the land of 10,000 lakes. “Lake Life" and going “Up North" were the things you did living there, which led to many hiking and kayaking trips.

What do you enjoy most about being outdoors?

Being outdoors is the avenue I use to see and explore new places, whether that is a new local park or traveling to a new city to visit their local outdoor offerings and experience their cities and towns.

What are the items you always bring when you're headed outdoors?

I always have a pair of sneakers, my hammock and water bottle. I will also often have headphones to listen to a podcast or music as well.

Have you learned any life lessons during your outdoor adventures?

There are so many incredible places to see, both in our local communities and through travel. Time outdoors helps my perspective, taking the focus off the things I have going on and seeing things as a bigger picture.

What do you like most about working for an electric co-op?

I love the collaboration within our organization but also with the industry. There are no strangers, and I love that. I am also grateful for all the growth opportunities and training as I continue learning.

Any words of advice to new co-op employees?

You are in great company! Stepping into this industry with no prior knowledge, I was blown away by the positive culture of not only my organization but the industry! There are no dumb questions, so do not be afraid to ask and lean in as you are learning both your role and the industry.
