​On December 9, 2024, NRECA filed reply comments with the FCC in response to a Notice of Inquiry on Strengthening Customer Service in the Communications Industry. In the comments, NRECA agreed that customer service practices for many communications industry providers can be problematic and should be improved. However, rural electric cooperatives are a prime example of community-based, member-driven service providers that operate at a local level with considerable built-in accountability to their customers and, as a result, have very high customer satisfaction ratings. NRECA is concerned that Commission action would impose additional customer service regulations and administrative burdens on cooperatives for which it is not needed.
