NRECA urged the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs to reconsider a new U.S. Energy Information Administration survey, which will collect monthly data from utilities on the number of final notices, disconnections, and reconnections issued for bill nonpayment by residential customers. NRECA previously raised concerns with EIA directly about how the data requested will provide an inaccurate picture of energy assistance need, the stated purpose of the survey. NRECA reiterates these concerns to OIRA but specifically asks that EIA publish any collected at the state level rather than the utility level to better align with how LIHEAP is funded.
