On February 5, 2025, NRECA CEO Jim Matheson sent a letter to new FCC Chairman Brendan Carr sharing NRECA’s perspective on critical issues affecting shared goals of closing the digital divide and ensuring affordable high-speed broadband for rural communities. The letter stresses the need to avoid burdensome regulations on rural broadband providers, the importance of accurate data to determine coverage in rural areas, and the sustainability of federal support to ensure affordability in those areas.
