Through NRECA International, the rural electrification efforts of U.S. electric cooperatives extend well beyond our nation's borders, bringing electricity access to 160 million people in 43 countries. These efforts have helped create approximately 250 rural electric cooperatives in Latin America, Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Our work has boosted agricultural productivity, created millions of new jobs in micro and small enterprises, and producted higher incomes and quality of life for rural communities.
