The holidays are here, and electric cooperatives are celebrating in their communities with festive floats, acts of kindness, lots of goodwill—and an impressive display of creativity.

Every year, KAMO Power Senior Engineering Technician Derek Thomas gives new life to an old 25-foot sailboat by stringing lights on sail lines and stays and then positioning them to look like a mainsail and jib. In a forest on his family's 7.5 acres of property on the banks of the Neosho River in northeast Oklahoma, the boat “seemingly sails through the forest each Christmas," said Leigh Thomas, Derek's wife.

Elsewhere, co-op lineworkers and front office workers are leaning into their creative talents to adorn bucket trucks, pickup trucks and offices with lights, wreaths and other décor.
