By December 2021, the monarch butterfly may be listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). If the monarch butterfly is listed, it could significantly impact electric cooperatives’ ability to manage transmission and distribution rights-of-way in a cost-effective manner. Participation in the Monarch Butterfly Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances (CCAA) may provide an opportunity to improve monarch habitat, streamline conservation efforts, avoid project delays, and save money. Now is the time to get involved.

This free webinar covered:

  • How listing the Monarch under the ESA will impact co-ops and how ROWs are managed
  • How the CCAA is an option to benefit the monarch while giving regulatory certainty regardless of whether the monarch is listed
  • The timeframe to sign up for the agreement if the monarch is proposed for listing in December 2020
