Overview

Young adults 45 and under make up more than half of the overall cooperative membership nationwide.

As member expectations and communication preferences shift, connecting with young adult members is an important challenge facing today’s electric cooperatives.

NRECA and Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives are collaborating on a multi-year Young Adult Member Engagement (YAME) Initiative to empower cooperatives with tools and resources to engage the next generation of members.

Johanna Cooper, public relations specialist at Berkeley Electric Cooperative in South Carolina, and Steve Goodson, vice president of energy services at Jones-Onslow in North Carolina, will share their experience and successful strategies in reaching young adult members. Learn about their creative approaches to community engagement that can be adapted for any co-op anywhere.

This webinar covers:

  • Real life examples of how co-ops are meeting young adult members where they are in their life stage and in physical and virtual locations
  • Leveraging community connections to create young member engagement
  • Insight and lessons learned from two co-ops' successful efforts

This is part of a series of webinars by NRECA and Touchstone Energy® focused on this engagement topic.

Check out the latest YAME resources here.
