Knowing the Facts and Understanding the Trends

In the United States, the demand for solar—a renewable energy source—is on the rise. And in the marketplace, solar capacity is climbing while costs for installation and storage technologies are falling. Presenters Doug Danley, technical liaison and consultant with NRECA’s Cooperative Research Network; and Bob Gibson of the Solar Electric Power Association discussed these trends and both the opportunities and challenges they are posing for electric co-ops and consumer-members.

This webinar also offered a review of the basics of solar, explored the state of residential and utility scale solar market and discussed information being developed in support of co-op members through NRECA's Solar Utility Network Deployment Acceleration Project, known as SUNDA. With funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, NRECA is working to enhance the ability of co-ops to design, deploy and operate utility-scale PV.
